     Tuition & Fees

          Tuition Structure and Options

Monthly Tuition Fees

TUITION PAYMENT POLICY: Tuition reserves a student’s lesson time each week and is essential for the academy to function. Because an instructor’s time is just as valuable as a student’s, it is important a student’s tuition is paid prior to the start of lessons. Any lesson a student does not attend will unfortunately be a forfeiture of that lesson.  Our tuition is structured on a “month to month” basis and is due on the 25th, of each month for the upcoming month. Registration occurs on September 1st, of each year for existing students and students must re-register during this month annually.

Example: Total a 30 minute student could expect to pay for a whole month of lessons consisting of 4-5 lessons is $113.00.  $26 is the annually pro-rated
breakdown of the $113.00.

SELF RENEWING TUITION: Although the Royal Academy’s tuition period is on a “month to month” basis, all tuition is self renewing by the 25th, of each month.  This means that in the event you wish to discontinue lessons, you are required to notify the Royal Academy before the 25th, of the month prior to the upcoming month in writing or verbally to a director or administrator. Please do not tell your instructor, instructor’s are not administrators and this will not be considered as notice of discontinuance. Failure to notify the school of withdrawal will result in charges for the upcoming month’s tuition. Any balances carried over will also result in a $10 late fee for each month a balance remains open.

CHECK-IN/TUITION POLICY: All students are required to check in at the front desk. Students will then be required to sign in with their instructors before each lesson begins to track lesson attendance.  In the event a payment has not been submitted by the 8th, of the month (end of grace period), unfortunately the instructor will not be allowed to perform a lesson, and lessons will be temporarily withheld until a payment is made. Students will not be given the reason for a lesson being withheld only a parent or guardian will be told the reason. Please do not send your child to a lesson without remembering to pay his/her tuition, this makes it very difficult for the school, its teachers and administration.  If finances are an issue, please contact us so we can help to work out a convenient payment plan with you.

RESERVING A TIME SLOT: Please understand that the Royal Academy compensates its instructors for their time, and their time is just as important as anyone else’s. When a student does not show up, the instructor is still present and compensated.  Your tuition reserves a time-slot with a particular instructor and you will be responsible for payment whether or not you attend the lesson.

REGISTRATION FEES: There is a $25 dollar registration fee per student, no more than $50 per family required upon registration to the academy and on September 1st. of each year.  Those students registering between May 1st, and August 31st, will be exempt from re-paying the registration fee the following September.

Royal Academy registration fee's help the Royal Academy cover such operating costs as student recitals (which are free to students), programming, instrument maintenance such as tunings and repairs, janitorial/cleaning (recitals), Database and computer maintenance, filing and much more. We do not charge "hidden fee's" .

ABSENTEE POLICY:
The Royal Academy requires a minimum of 24 hours notice of cancellation for an absence to be excused.  All lessons cancelled outside this 24 hour period will be considered a cancellation and a student has the option of taking a make-up lesson.  If 24 hours notice has not been given the lesson will be considered a “no show” and will be forfeited and must be paid for.

TEACHER ABSENCE: All instructor absences will be offered make-up lessons prior to or after an instructor is absent. Credits are not given for an instructor absence. An instructor is required to give a student a make-up lesson for any missed lessons and all make-up lessons and absences are recorded.

SCHEDULE CHANGES/ INSTRUCTOR DISCUSSIONS: All administrative issues such as schedule changes, re-scheduling, tuition, or anything relating to absences, adjustments, etc. must be made solely through a school administrator, not through an instructor. Instructor’s are not required or trained to deal with arranging schedules, tracking schedule changes, tuition related issues, etc. Please refer all these issues through the main office at any Royal Academy location or by calling 508-792-1221.

MAKE-UP LESSONS:  The Academy offers 3 make-up lessons per year for students that were absent  given a period of 24 hour notice of cancellation. Please do not contact your instructor on your own to set up a make-up lesson, all make-up lessons must be validated through the music office only.  If approved, a make-up lesson voucher will be given to your instructor concerning the details of your make-up lesson.  Make-up lessons owed can not take place of a student’s tuition. For example, in the event a student is owed 4 make-up lessons, a student can not  use those make-up lessons in exchange for that months tuition whether or not the make-ups were a result of a student or teacher absence. Make-up lessons must be performed separately from regular scheduled lessons.

RESCHEDULED LESSONS: In the event a student gives a period of two weeks or more notice of cancellation of a lesson, they will be entitled to reschedule the lesson.  This notice must be given to both an administrative staff member as well as, to the instructor in order to be valid.

CREDITS: The Royal Academy only offers a lesson credit if an instructor has left and a substitute or new instructor was not made available, resulting in a loss of
 pre-paid lessons.

SCHOOL CLOSING POLICY: In the event that classes and private lessons are cancelled due to inclement weather or for any other reason, there will be a recorded announcement on the Royal Academy voice mail machine which can be heard by calling 508-792-1221, 8:30AM for morning cancellations and 12:30 PM for afternoon and evening cancellations. Cancellation of lessons due to inclement weather, or extreme circumstances such as family emergency will be offered a make-up lesson only, which can be applied anytime throughout the year.

SOLICITING INSTRUCTORS/STUDENTS:
Due to non-solicitation contractual obligations, Royal Academy instructors are not allowed to teach student’s outside the academy premises or privately without permission from a director.  Furthermore, students should not ask or request a teacher instruct them outside of the Royal Academy, this puts instructors in a very awkward situation.

VACATIONS: The Royal Academy’s admission period is rolling and lessons are taught straight through the summer and vacation periods. The Royal Academy’s schedule does not follow public school schedule so, in the event that a student leaves for vacation consisting of two or more weeks during the months of July1st, through September 1st, the Royal Academy does allow for tuition payments to be pro-rated for missed lessons only between this two month period, however, notice of an absence must be given (by the student) a period of no less than two weeks (2) notice in order for tuition to be pro-rated. For example, if a student is out the last  two (2) weeks of July, the school must be notified by July 1st. etc.

TRIAL LESSONS: The Royal Academy offers trial lessons for new incoming students and existing students looking to possibly switch instructors or try a new instructor.  Fees for trial lessons are $26.00 per lesson, and are 30 minutes in duration.

STUDENT & FAMILY DISCOUNTS:
The Royal Academy offers student and family discounts to students attending the academy with one or more family member. There is a four dollar discount per month for the second family member attending and an eight dollar discount per month for the third family member attending.

REFERRAL PROGRAM: The Royal Academy offers students a “one week” free lesson voucher for the referral of a student to the Royal Academy. Please be advised that the student must register to the school in order for the voucher to be valid.
